Rickie Roo: I got in trouble today.
Gigi: Yep, it was funny!
PJpupp: It’s never funny when someone gets in trouble Gigi.
Gigi: Well it was funny. Rickie Roo got in big trouble for chewing up the May issue of Dog Fancy Magazine that just came in the mail for mommy. The one that has Rickie Roo’s picture on it and the centerfold of me and Rickie Roo, too.
PJpupp: Is that true, Roo?
Rickie Roo: Yes – mommy yelled, “RICKIE ROO! STOP IT NOW!” So I looked at her, did a bow and attacked that magazine. She started yelling “NO! NO!” and so I threw it over my shoulder just like a dead rat and then started to shred it. Then I stole a piece and ran and hid in my crate.
Gigi: She had the cover — the picture of her on the cover and she took it in there with her and she was eating it. Rickie Roo was eating herself up!
Rickie Roo: Yep. I ate myself – or I tried to. Mommy took the paper back.
PJpupp: I don’t know why she bothered to do that, it’s never going to be the same now that you ate it.
Gigi: It was all crinkled and wet!
Rickie Roo: Mommy said she’s gonna frame it.
Gigi: She meant that she was going to … before you ate it up.
Rickie Roo: I was just recycling.
PJpupp: It’s recycling if you shred it when you are done with it Roo. Mommy was not done with the magazine yet. She wanted to show it off to all her friends. It’s not often that a dog gets to be on the cover of Dog Fancy.
Gigi: At least mommy didn’t cry.
Rickie Roo: No, she just said, “Oh POOP! It’s RUINED!” and showed it to daddy, who laughed.
Gigi: Then daddy got in trouble.
PJpupp: It’s not so smart to laugh at something mommy is upset about.
Rickie Roo: I just hid in my crate and then peeked out and tilted my head and sent the psychic message “What?” to mommy. Then I ran up and licked her ankles and acted really sorry.
PJpupp: She’s a softy for that one, Rickie Roo.
Gigi: I just have to lay my ears back and hang my head and I get out of trouble.
Rickie Roo: It’s not that easy for me, I have to really, really, really look cute.
PJpupp: That’s because you are always in trouble, Rickie Roo.
Rickie Roo: What do you do to get out of trouble PJpupp?
PJpupp: I stay out of trouble in the first place. If I should do something wrong, she’s so shocked it was me that she blames one of you two, or herself.
Rickie Roo: Wow. That’s pretty sneaky PJ … maybe I will try that.
PJpupp: I’m 12 and have always been good, Roo. I don’t think you are capable of being good for very long.
Gigi: Mommy loves us even if we are naughty.
PJpupp: Yep, she sure does. And she is so proud of you two for being such good little models.
Rickie Roo: I wonder if she’s done with that magazine now. I feel like recycling again… you wanna go see Gigi?
Gigi: Sure! But first I think mommy wants to take us out back and train for a while.
PJpupp: That’s fun.
Rickie Roo: Mommy has us training even more and walking a lot. She says that models have to stay fit … and that her bum is huge, so we have to walk so it gets smaller.
Gigi: I’m not so sure how us walking is gonna make her bum smaller, but that’s OK with me. I like walks.
Rickie Roo: Me too!
Gigi: She says all of us are on a diet too.
Rickie Roo: What’s a diet?
PJpupp: Less food. No treats.
Rickie Roo: NO TREATS! Is she CRAZY? I will be very very naughty if she doesn’t let me have my treats for going potty outside, or for being good.
Gigi: I’m always on a diet, it’s not a big deal, Roo – daddy sneaks us treats. Just don’t tell mommy.
PJpupp: That’s how it works, Roo. Just wait and see, soon enough this diet thing will be forgotten and things will be back to normal.
Rickie Roo: How long?
PJpupp: It could be a few hours or maybe a few weeks.
Rickie Roo: WEEKS??? WEEKS on a DIET???
PJpupp: Don’t worry, Roo — you are very fit, you won’t even notice. Mommy likes you exactly as you are. Poor Gigi is the one who will have to lose 1/2 pound before she’s off a diet.
Rickie Roo: HA! Gigi’s on a diet! Gigi’s on a diet!
Gigi [hangs her head and looks so sad]: But I was hurt this week.
PJpupp: Yes Gigi, use that to your advantage. Just tilt your head and make sure that bite mark from the big dog is right where mommy can see it, and she will feel so bad for you that she will forget all about it.
Gigi: I think I will practice that. Thanks for the advice, PJpupp!
PJpupp: Sure! Mommy’s ready for our walkies, so let’s get out of here! We can blog more another time.
