By Sophie and Jesse James
It’s Sunday Funday, a perfect day to introduce you all to my new friend Jesse James. Oh, do not be alarmed! The only thing this sweetheart will rob you of is your heart – although he might very well steal a kiss or three!

Jesse is the 25th featured adoptable dog in i Love Dogs’ campaign to find homes for 31 pooches during Adopt-A-Dog month. The 3-year-old terrier mix hardly barked a woof when TJ first introduced us, but in no time at all he came out of his shell and now he’s one of my very dearest friends.
Since the young pup is very shy in front of an audience, I’m going to tell you his story, and he can bark in anytime he wants to.
Jesse was rescued from a city shelter by the good people at the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation (LBWF) about two years ago. He was a bit timid around people at first. But when he was paired up with Libby, a sweet 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix, Jesse blossomed like a beautiful Dogwood tree. The two of them got along splendidly and–
Jesse: Um, Sophie?
Sophie: Yes, Jesse?
Jesse: Can I take it from here?
Sophie: Of course you can, dear! Ladies and gentlemen, here’s Jesse!
JESSE
Libby is the greatest pooch in the whole world. I love her so much, it makes me feel like I’ve swallowed butterflies and they’re fluttering around inside my tummy. Actually I almost did swallow a butterfly once, but it flew out of my mouth and yelled at me before taking off.
Do you have a dog? I bet I’d fall in love with your dog, too, just like Libby. Do you have any chew toys? Oh, I love you already.
Let me sit in your lap, okay? No, really, I can fit. See? Wait, let me fold up my back leg here…tuck under my front paws…adjust my tail just a teeny bit…and voilà! Oooh, you have such a comfy lap! Let me give you a kiss, okay? Just one or two more, okay?
I sure hope yours is my furever home. Please contact the Linda Blair WorldHeart Foundation. If you mention TJ or i Love Dogs, you’ll get a FREE puppy starter kit when you adopt me!

Sophie was almost 84 dog years old when she passed to the Rainbow Bridge last November. She was adopted by i Love Dogs writer Laura Goldman in 1998 from a Hawthorne, Calif. shelter. She loved long naps, looking out the front windows and, most of all, her best buddy Leroy. Check out her other articles!
