Happy Fursday, friends! I’d like you to meet a new pawl of mine, this kooky kid named Alexander, or Alex for short. He’s an 8-month-old Lab/pit bull mix who’s i Love Dogs’ 22nd featured pooch for Adopt-A-Dog Month.
Alex cracks me up. I thought I was a ball of energy, but Alex is like a kangaroo. When TJ introduced us, Alex was all, “Look Leroy! It’s a trampoline! Jump with me, Leroy! C’mon, jump!!” But I looked around and all I saw was grass. That pup has some springy paw pads, I tell you.
Hey, Alex! Come on over here and introduce yourself to these nice people and pooches.
ALEX
What? Who? Oh! Hi everybody! I’m Alex and – is that a Kong? It’s not empty, is it? Is there something peanut buttery in it? Oh, yay. Num num num num – oh! I guess I can work on this later.
So anyway, when I was really little, these two teenage kids found my sister Indi and me, and they told us we had to make puppies so they could sell them. The kids were homeless, just like we were, so we sort of felt bad for them, but we were really, really scared. Then these super nice people – look, a bird! Two birds! Oh, sorry. These super nice people from Karma Rescue took us away to a safe place. The teenagers kept coming back and trying to get us, but the nice people told them to scoot.
I love my foster mom and my foster pup sis Robbie, a cute little pittie, sooo much. I’ve learned to go potty outside and to stay in my crate, which is really cozy. Wait. Do you smell bacon? I smell bacon! Where is it? Can you smell it? Oh. I’m only 8 months old but I can already do some cool tricks like shaking paws, and I know how to sit.
You know where I like to sit? In the window. I’m not kidding! I can see all kinds of things from there. Mail guy! Mail guy!
I love you so much. Let me give you a kiss, okay? (kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss ki–)
Wait! Is that a delivery truck? Do you hear it? Here it comes! Oh. Where was I? Well, that’s pretty much my story. If you’re active and looking for an active pooch, I’m your guy! I get along great with kids and other dogs, but not so much kitty cats.

Leroy is a 2-year-old “terribull” adopted from a Carson, Calif. shelter by i Love Dogs writer Laura Goldman. When he’s happy, Leroy snorts just like a pig. He really misses his gal pal Sophie, who passed to the Rainbow Bridge last November. But he adores his new pawl Ella and his chew toys (a little too much). Check out Leroy’s other articles!
